A Fresh Start

Great Harvest Evanston looks like no other Great Harvest out there. We operate under a “Freedom Franchise.” The “Freedom” part means that we get to run our business in a way that meets our community’s unique needs. The “Franchise” part gives us access to the recipes and processes that Great Harvest has continuously improved for over three decades. The result is breads and sweets that will knock your socks off!

We said good-bye to Corporate America, kicked the suit and tie and are now up to our elbows in dough. We’re excited to bring this tradition to you, our neighbors and friends

Thanks for stopping by, we’re glad you came!

Our Story

Dave & Liz Schaps began their Great Harvest Journey in 2001. They are a very special part of the Evanston community and a driving force in the success of Central Street. When you stop by Great Harvest Bread Company in Evanston, you are in for more than just a mouthwatering treat. You are greeted with a smile and a free slice of hot-out-of-the-oven bread or a taste of legendary sweets. Enjoy yourself and bring your children. We’re family owned and community focused, and offer you a fun place to hang out. We are your neighborhood bakery and believe customer service is just as important as delivering the finest breads and sweets. We are a close-knit, fun loving family that enjoys working and playing together. While we are working, you will often hear us laughing and singing.

Our mission. "We'll always be loose and have fun, bake phenomenal bread, run fast to help customers, create strong exciting bakeries, and give generously to others."
